Nigeria Computer Society for change
Nigeria Computer Society – promoting change and development for all
The Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) is the largest organization of all Information Technology (IT) Professionals, Interest Groups and Stakeholders in Nigeria. It leads the IT space in Nigeria by promoting the deployment and advancement of IT for growth for all while shaping the future of the IT in Nigeria.
Comprising of professionals, entrepreneurs, academics, researchers, corporates and policy makers, the NCS is essentially the home of Nigeria’s IT community. Joining the NCS opens doors to exceptional professional networking and development prospects.
Membership is open to IT professionals and all those with an interest in computing. There is room for anyone with interest. Membership categories are: Professional, Sub-Professional, Non-Professional and Corporate. The Professional membership category that covers Fellows, Members and Associates is the most popular category.
Essentially differences within the Professional and Sub-Professional categories have to do with age requirements, level of education as well as evidence, nature and number of years of experience in computing.
The Non-Professional category (Honourary Fellow, Honourary Member and Affiliate) is for individuals who are not professionals but who have contributed to the growth of information technology in Nigeria and who wish to identify with the society.
The Corporate category is meant for interested organizations that are registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission.
Member applications must usually be sponsored by two members or two fellows in the case of fellows in writing. The NCS further states that “The requirements for each class of membership shall be under continuous review in order that the Society may respond rapidly to changing situations arising from new developments.”
