Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) has introduced LevelReg (Student Academic Level Registration) for Tech students in Nigeria. Students of Computer Science and related courses can now take advantage of Scholarship, Self Development, Professional Networking and Career Development opportunities.
NCS created this platform to help in building the human capital for the digital economy; in particular tech capacity. Though several promising capacity building initiatives exist, there is a pressing need to significantly increase impact on development.
With tech students in mind, Student Academic Level Registration (LevelReg) is a portal designed to:
– Register students of Computer Science and related courses in every academic session including Postgraduate and Research Students
– Authenticate students’ current academic to enable them enjoy benefits provided for students by the Nigeria Computer Society
– Track the progression of students in schools and in their academic pursuits
Tech student, this is about empowerment and support for the next generation. The tech sector simply must have the manpower to compete globally, to bridge the digital divide and transform Nigeria into an information technology capable nation.
Not only does it enable students access facilities to boost their academic pursuits, it also helps in building statistics on tech students in Nigeria. This cannot be underestimated for planning.
For NCS, it is about creating an environment that supports and encourages students as they develop their tech careers. The long term vision is to build solid human capital in tech to meet the needs and requirements of the ever changing digital economy. As society becomes more ICT enabled, we should promote and advance digital knowledge, creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship. Progress and competitiveness will not come from consumption.
Nigeria will thrive and benefit through students in tech who develop the ability to create, produce, innovate and add value. The people in the tech sector will need to be a source of strength and opportunity.
The nation needs to know and monitor the national human capacities in tech.
It is also important to provide opportunities for students in tech to build capacity, live their dreams and change the world. That is the message of Level Reg.
Emmanuel Essiet, a beneficiary had this to say: “Register and benefit. I have benefited from it among 35 other students from all parts of Nigeria”.
