Women and Girls in ICT – World Telecommunication and Information Society Day 2012
Jidaw Systems (Jidaw) in conjunction with the African Information Security Association (AISA) will hold a special session on “Advancement and Empowerment of Women through ICTs” during the upcoming FREE IT Career Seminar on May 19, 2012 to mark the 2012 World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD) with the theme: “Women and Girls in ICT”.
The special session will celebrate the achievements of women in ICT and raise issues that are critical to the advancement and empowerment of women with ICTs. The special session is also an opportunity to sensitize the public and create awareness on policies, practices and action that are needed the full participation and involvement of women through ICTs.
The only requirements to attend the seminar are to have a desire to build a career in IT and to register before the event date. There are no registration fees. The IT Career Seminar is free to attend.
The forums are open to the public and all key stakeholders are invited. Interested participants need to register before the events through the Jidaw office.
In addition the African Children Cyber Safety Initiative of the African Information Security Association (AISA) intends to mark the 2012 World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD) hold forum with the theme: “Girls in ICT”.

As ICT becomes more significant in our lives, we need to address the growing need to incorporate the ideas, strengths and contributions of women in ICT. If we want a sustainable tomorrow, we must recognize that a better world will require the advancement, empowerment and full participation of women through ICT.
Jidaw is a foremost promoter of ICT for Development (ICT4D) that runs the FREE IT Career Seminars to provide knowledge and guidance for young people and individuals in IT Career Development and Entrepreneurship. The seminar is recognized as an important contribution for human capital development in ICT geared towards closing the digital divide. Interested individuals are encouraged to attend.
