The Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) will be collaborating with SystemSpecs, top software company in Nigeria, to move the industry and profession forward. The recent NCS visit to SystemSpecs provided the avenue for the discussions. The NCS team led by Professor David O. Adewumi, NCS President, was received by John Tani Obaro, MD of SystemSpecs. NCS and SystemSpecs agreed to work together on strategic projects of the NCS such as the upcoming national conference, and the processing of membership dues.
Noting that SystemSpecs has stood out and driven significant improvements in the Nigerian economy with world class offerings and standards, Adewumi stated that ”Through your most fruitful and outstanding deployment and application of technology, you have gained recognition as the provider of the most widely deployed indigenous human capital software solution (HumanManager) and the most innovative and acceptable financial remittance solutions in Nigeria and West Africa. Indeed your numerous achievements have led to several awards culminating in the CEO, Systemspecs, John Tani Obaro, emerging as the 2013 Winner of the Most Prestigious IT Personality of the Year Award”.
The SystemSpecs top management present during the visit included Mrs. Eunice Ikekhuah – Executive Director, Mr. Remi Atanda – Executive Director, Mr. Paul Ibidun – General Manager, Corporate Services, Dr. Emmanuel Eze – Chief Technology Officer, Mr. Tope Ologunoye – Head Human Resources, Mrs. Shola Sobo – Assistant General Manager (Remita), Mr. Emmanuel Uzigbo – Group Head, Mr. Eyinnaya Ochogu – Assistant General Manager (Remita), Mr. Toyin Ajayi – Marketing Department, Mr. Musa Bolus – Marketing Department and Mr. Jack Akpan – Remita. In addition to the President, the NCS team included Jide Awe, Chairman Publicity and Events Committee, Chinedu Onuoha, Executive Secretary, Goke Akinpelu – The Head, Finance and Admin, Taiwo Oyesanwo – Assistant Manager, Corporate Affairs, Atinuke Shodipo – Corporate Affairs Officer and Paul Uzoechina – ISPON Representative.
The NCS President, Professor David O. Adewumi, congratulated MD, SystemSpecs on emerging as the 2013 IT Personality of the Year. He noted that strategic partnerships with NCS would help to identify, support innovation efforts and build capacities to help “realise the huge potential in Africa’s fledging market.”
In his response, John Tani Obaro, agreed on benhalf of SystemSpecs to partner in strategic projects of NCS while offering NCS a key waiver to enable over 10,000 members of the country’s premier technology network to remit their annual dues through cashless, e-payment channels. Remita is the e-payment product developed by SystemSpecs for this purpose. “To demonstrate its commitment towards ensuring that NCS members fully embrace the electronic remittance initiative in compliance with the CBN’s policy, SystemSpecs has waived its normal standing orders fees for NCS members for the 2014 annual dues,”
While commending NCS for its advocacy efforts, Obaro also noted the continued marginalization of IT professionals and the continued absence of IT professionals in governance. Rather than being discouraged by the seeming lack of understanding by the authorities, he instead encouraged NCS to go ahead with its activities which are needed to move the sector and the country forward.
