Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) congratulates Professor Bayo Akinde, Fellow and past President of the Nigeria Computer Society, on his elevation to the position of Archbishop of Anglican diocese, Lagos Province.
A distinguished and accomplished Information Technology scholar, Professor Akinde is also a Past Provost of the College of Fellows of the Nigeria Computer Society and First Registrar of Computer Professionals (Registration Council of Nigeria).
Professor Akinde is a qualified Electrical Engineer from the University of Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ife and obtained M.Sc and Ph.D degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (Hardware) from the University College, London, and University of Sussex, Brighton, UK, respectively.
He distinguished himself in academics as an eminent scholar before full time ministry and commitment to the service of God. At the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife he progressed in his academic career, in the Departments of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, and Computer Science and Engineering. He was at different times as Acting Head and Substantive Head of Department of Computer Science and Engineering
Outstanding in the IT Community
His impact on the profession has been outstanding as Professor Akinde was a foundation member of the Computer Association of Nigeria (COAN) (now Nigerian Computer Society (NCS)), the leading body of IT professionals and stakeholders. National executive positions he has held in the association include: Chairman, Education Committee, Chairman, Publications Committee, Chairman, Conferences Committee, Vice President and President of COAN. Professor Akinde is also the First Registrar of the Computer Professionals (Registration Council of Nigeria).
