Nigeria Computer Society Ogun State Chapter recently held its 3rd ICT Executive Workshop for School Proprietors and Administrators at the Federal University Of Agriculture, Alabata, Abeokuta, Ogun State from 8th- 10th May,2013.. Theme of the workshop was: E-Tools for Effective School Administration.
The keynote address was delivered by the Chairman Training and Workshop Committee, Nigeria Computer Society Ogun State Chapter, Dr ‘Bukola Onashoga, a Computer science lecturer Department of Computer Science at Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) with over 12years experience in Teaching/Research.
The workshop was organized as a way of fulfilling part of the vision of the NCS Ogun State Chapter, which is making people around us to realize the advantages Information Technology can give to them. It should be noted that this is the 3rd of its kind since the inception of this chapter.
The first reason for targeting Proprietors and school Administrator is to leverage on the status of schools influence the school system by educating the people in charge. As ICT is evolving, it’s hardly to find an organization or an institution that is not growing with it. Education is the key thing, which is a means of letting them appreciate what these Information Technology tools could be used in their respective schools, both for staff, parents and students.The realization of this creates eager minds – allowing teachers and students to use these tools in their respective domains.
Applications include the use of advanced document management techniques in management techniques in managing school database and for result computation; and also the introduction of newer technology “Cloud Services” for effective Management. Not left out is the use of mobile devices in administration and lastly, the strategic ways in managing ICT infrastructure.
As part of the benefits there was an exhibition of school software by some Information Technology companies such as AIRTEL NIGERIA, J-WADEL solutions, Roving Eye Technology, etc.
The opening ceremony featured the following prominent personalities: Prof Goke Bodunde, Dean College of Plant Sciences, representing Prof O.B Oyewole, Vice Chancellor Federal University of Agriculture, Alabata, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Chairman, Nigeria Computer Society Ogun State Chapter, Dr. Adesina Sodiya, Vice Chairman, Mr. Sunday Agholor, Assistant Secretary, Mr. Tunde Solanke, Public Relations Officer: Mr. Adekunle Durosinmi, Head Department of Computer Science, Federal University of Agriculture, Alabata, Abeokuta, Dr Adebayo Adekoya and some other prominent members of the Nigeria Computer Society Ogun State Chapter : Mr. Abiola Ogundeko, Mr. Jare Oyesola, Mr. Ibukun Oyesola, Mr. Bamidele Adenle, Mr. Olatunbosun Lukmon, Mr. Niyi Orisakiya and many more.
