Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) Niger State Chapter has visited the Rector, Niger State Polytechnic, Zungeru in continuation of its awareness and sensitization campaign about NCS and IT development in the state.

The representatives of the Niger Chapter Executives of Nigeria Computer Society visited Niger State Polytechnic on Tuesday, October 29, 2013.
The team comprised of the Chairman, Mallam Zubayr Emimaru, the Vice Chairman, Mallam Abdullahi Enagi, the Secretary, Imran Taiwo O. and the PRO, Mallam Babawachiko Muhammed.
The team was ushered to the Deputy Rector’s office standing for the Rector by Head of Computer Science Department, Mr. Ibrahim Umar Kontagora. The event started with the introduction of the representatives of the executives by the Secretary. This was followed by the Chairman’s address.
In his address, the chairman, Mallam Zubayr Emimaru thanked the acting Rector for the warm reception and highlighted the purpose of the visit as:
= To seek collaboration with the institution in strengthening NCS in the state. Niger chapter, according to him was inaugurated on 30th of April this year and has the mandate of moving NCS forward in the state.
= To seek cooperation of the Management of the Institution in assisting members for sponsorship and participation in ICT related programmes.
= To encourage participation of the students in National IT competitions.
In his response, the Deputy Rector, pledged the Managements readiness to collaborate with NCS in the state. He said this on behalf of the Institution’s management. He also informed the Excos that the management has been supporting the IT staff members and has registered many in the past. On that note, he, solicited that his institution should always be carried along as none of his staff was in the executive.
Further, he apprised the visiting executives that ICT is an area of strength for the institution. He also pledged the support of management anytime it is solicited either for competitions or programmes.
The Chairman responded that the provision was actually made for the members from the Institution to occupy certain posts in the executives but they were unable to take the advantage them. The HOD pledged to keep close contact with the state secretariat to strengthen the relationship.
The visit was concluded by a brief meeting with the HOD in his office where critical issues concerning membership drive and participation were addressed. The excos also met with the leadership of NACOSS in the institution.
