The bar was raised at the 3rd Kogi State Conference/ Annual General Meeting of Nigeria Computer Society.
The theme for this year conference is “Towards Developing ICT Standards for National
Transformation Agenda”. The conference took place at the Salem University Lokoja, Nigeria from Thursday 27th to Friday 28th, June 2013.
In the Chairman welcome speech (Mr. Ajayi Ebenezer Akinyemi) noted that the 2013 theme “Towards Developing ICT Standards for National Transformation Agenda” was chosen to evaluate the anticipated role of information technology industry players in developing ICT standards for National transformation agenda. The Conference is therefore designed for the IT Industry players and stakeholders to develop ICT standards that can bring about National transformation in every sector. He therefore implored the stakeholders to key in to this theme to bring about good standards for our noble society.
This year’s event was witnessed by many dignitaries from far and near. The National President Sir Ademola Aladekomo who was ably represented by the 2nd Vice President Dr.(Mrs.) Adeola Ilechuckwu who delivered a paper titled “Harnessing Information Technology strategies in developing ICT standards for National Transformation.” In her lecture, she tried to justify the used of the term ICT and IT. She said as I.T specialists, our emphasis should be on Information Technology and not Information Communication Technology.
The Lead paper presented by Prof. David Adewunmi (Bell University of Technology, Ota, Ogun State) covvered “Leveraging Information Technology to Improve on National Competitiveness”.
The conference features State Whizdkid Competition, Academic Paper Presentation, Annual General Meeting, etc.
