As part of corporate responsibilities of Nigeria Computer Society, and in pursuance of its vision and mission of manpower development, Nigeria Computer Society has partnered with the Centre of Excellence in Software Engineering of Obafemi Awolowo University to organise a week long hands-On Workshop on Cloud Computing with Open Nebula.
The workshop which stated on Monday 25th August 2014 ended on Friday 29th Aug. 2014. The workshop attracted participants from all sector of the economy – Project Managers, Solution Architects, Developers, Designers, IT Managers & Senior Managers/Administrators, IT Professionals, Web Developers, Network Engineers, IT Consultants/Researchers, IT Industry players, Education Faculty and Staff, Departmental & Units Heads, Government/Public and Private Sectors, Postgraduate students in Computer Science/IT and Business Development Executives/Managers
Added to the glamour and success of the Workshop is the presence of facilitators from Germany; the erudite scholars Prof. Dr. Christoph Reich & Thomas Rübsamen of Cloud Research Lab, Hochschule Furtwangen University (University of Applied Science) Furtwangen, Robert-Gerwig-Platz 1, Germany. They resourcefully impacted their skill and knowledge to the participants.
The state of the arts facilities at the centre of Excellence added a great value to the workshop. Thanks to Professor Sola Aderounmu, Director of the Centre who is also the Deputy President of Nigeria Computer Society for his immense contribution to the success of the program.
In his remark at the event, the President of Nigeria computer Society Prof. David Adewumi reiterated the corporate responsibility of NCS by providing the wherewithal for capacity building. He advised the participants to be serious and hardworking. He enjoined those of them who are not members of NCS to apply for membership so as to enjoy the largesse of being member in the subsequent MOU to be signed with our invited facilitators from Germany.
