The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has announced a Request for Proposals (RFP) for its ICT Development Initiative for Secondary Schools (Ondo state). Specifically the board invites technical and commercial proposals from corporate members of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) or organizations partnering with NCS. Physical presence in Ondo state is a requirement.
The announcement indicates that RFP is developed in appreciation of “the positive impact of ICT on teaching, learning, research and local content development in the oil and gas industry. The ICT sub-sector is one of the most important sectoral groups of the Board under the Nigerian content consultative Forum with great potential for employment generation, technology development and high tech. manufacturing.”
To develop the required capacity, NCDMB is therefore supporting skills development in ICT in secondary schools in oil producing states, through the ICT Development Initiative which will cover the provision of basic infrastructure and ICT training in secondary schools. The program will involve upgrade of facilities; and training of students and award of computer certificates.
a) To support schools in oil producing communities establish enduring capabilities for ICT training
b) To create opportunity for students to learn use of ICT tools early in life
c) To create sustainable springboard for integration of youths in oil producing communities into oil and gas activities
d) To provide platform for self-reliance for our youths
e) To support government’s schools ICT program as part of the transformation agenda of the Federal Government
