It’s time again for the ITAN CEO-NASSCOM business summit and presidential dinner. ICT CEOs from India and Nigeria will gather for the event on Monday, September 17th, 2012, from 12 Noon at the Golden Gate Restaurant.

Held annually between the Information Technology (Industry) Association of Nigeria, ITAN and National Association of Computer and Software Companies of India, NASSCOM, it is a top level event for accelerating local and international ICT development, partnering and networking. Interestingly nigeriacomputers.com notes that the two organizations represent Nigeria and India at the World Information Technology and Services Alliance, WITSA in terms of International Business and Professional membership of Nigeria.

Mr Som Mittal, President, NASSCOM, India leads the NASSCOM team while Engr. Mrs. Florence Seriki (MFR), National President leads the ITAN team. Special Guest is Hon. Minister, Minister for Communication Technology, Mrs Omobola Johnson. Other special guests are the CEO of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board and the MD/CEO of the Bank of Industry

A release from the organizers states that the objective of the annual event is to “sustain the Creation of a Platform for Local ICT Organizations to Synergize and Collaborate among Key International ICT Players and indeed our Goal to Bridge these Gaps in Competitive Capacity Development of the Local Enterprises, by also Creating Education Opportunities, influencing Policy Formulations in Information Communication Technologies Development, Promotion and Enhancement of the Nigerian ICT industry with other relevant Stakeholders”.

It is obvious from the release that the annual summit is an ongoing initiative that supports local ICT companies through stimulating demand for ICT products and services and facilitating partnerships for the promotion of local content in ICT. The forum’s theme this year is: “Empowering and Resuscitating Local IT Entrepreneurs via Local Content Development and Funding”. ITAN – Association of Corporate ICT Organizations and Local Entrepreneurs – intends to drive development in Nigeria using ICT through this summit.

nigeriacomputers.com is of the opinion that ITAN has planned an insightful and invaluable event that will raise and discuss critical and relevant issues through the business forum and collaboration and partnering with Companies from the two Countries. The Minister of communication Technology will enlighten the audience of the role of the ministry in empowering Local ICT Companies via Local Content.
At the President/Inauguration Dinner following the seminar, the India High Commissioner/Ambassador is expected to be present. Other dignitaries and key ICT and Bank Executives are expected to be part of the Presidential dinner. Membership certificates will also be presented.
