Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) is organizing Information Technology Job and Career Fairs in Akure, Lagos and Abuja to improve job and career opportunities for Nigerians. Jidaw notes that NCS is inviting job seekers and employers to participate and contribute in this innovative human capital initiative. Those interested in attending need to register before the events (Details Below).
The Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) is the nation’s foremost network of Information Technology (IT) practitioners with membership strength of over 10,000, comprising IT professionals, Interest Groups and Stakeholders.
Jidaw notes that graduate unemployment is a growing concern in Nigeria. And according to the release from NCS, despite the critical role of information technology in the knowledge economy, a significant number of Computer Science and related courses graduates today find it difficult to access or get gainful employment after graduation. Unavailable employment opportunities for qualified graduates, inadequate information on business opportunities available in the profession, lack of employable skills and ineffective techniques for securing available jobs in the labour market are some of the major factors contributing to the lack of employment.
Jidaw welcomes this initiative and agrees with the assertion of the Nigeria Computer Society that the IT industry could put more people to work than a combination of three or four different sectors of the economy could do, thereby, instituting confidence in our school system, graduates and boosting our economy.
