The final draft is as a result of inputs from stakeholders during the Stakeholders Forum held to review the draft Information Communications and Technology (ICT) policy for the State of Osun on May 2, 2013. The development of the ICT policy is organized by the State of Osun Government in Collaboration with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA). NITDA is responsible for facilitating ICT growth for development in Nigeria. NITDA in collaboration with the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) had earlier coordinated the development of the National ICT4D Strategic Action Plan.
The policy is geared towards developing the knowledge economy in the State of Osun in line with global best practices based on the the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS), the National ICT Policy, NITDA Act, Vision 20-2020, the Transformation Agenda and the State of Osun’s Development Agenda.
A realistic and concrete ICT roadmap for the State of Osun must reflect the realities on the ground in the state as well as the vision and aspirations of the people and government of the state. In addition to building to the state’s ICT sector, it is designed to help the state in overcoming the challenges and seizing the opportunities in the innovative economy.
