is presently a member of the Federal House of Representatives and Chairman House Committee on Information and Communication Technology. He is also a Member of the 1999 Constitutional Review Committee. He has served as a Special Adviser to the Executive Governor of Zamfara State on Electrification and Telecommunications in 2003 and Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning in 2004. He is an accomplished Telecommunications Engineer, specializing in Mobile Communications, who has played significant role in the deployment of GSM and in the development of the vibrant Communications industry across the country being a pioneer staff of Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTEL), and has worked in Ministry of Works Sokoto State, Nigeria Telecommunications Ltd (NITEL) and Globacom Ltd.
His educational qualifications include: Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Electrical Engineering and Higher National Diploma in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering from the Polytechnic of Sokoto State, Birnin-Kebbi now Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic; Masters Degree in Advanced Mobile and Personal Radio Communications Engineering from the University of Lancaster in United Kingdom; Masters Degree in Business Administration and Doctorate Degree in Mobile Communications at the Washington International University, United States of America.
He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Member Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers (IEEE) United States of America, Member Institute of Electrical Engineers United Kingdom, Registered member of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), and Presently, Council Member, Nigerian Society of Engineers Representing Federal House of Representatives.
