The Third West Africa Telecom Summit & Expo 2016 holds in Accra at the Kempinski Hotel from May 20th to May 21st 2016.
Organized by InstinctiveWave Limited, publishers of Mobile World and her partners, the 2016 event “rides on the success of the previous ones with the main theme as: Connecting West Africa for Growth”.
Nigeria Computer Society President, Professor Adesola Aderounmu FNCS is scheduled to speak and join the Cyber Security Panel at the summit.
According to a release from the organizers, the event will examine the challenges and opportunities in the expansive ICT sector across West Africa. Stakeholders will engage to advance the sector forward.
“WATSE is providing a unique platform for shared experiences and networking on: Data Explosion and IOTs- Mobile Internet & Smart Cities; Government &ICTs –Broadband &Regulatory Policy; Local Contents Promotion, CIO CONNECT; Data Centre – Managed Services, Enterprise; Internet Banking – Banking Technology, eBanking, Remittance and Cyber Security”.
WATSE 2016 will include a ‘Regulators Colloquium’ hosted by the Ghanaian Regulator and Director General of the National Communication Authority (NCA): Mr. Williams Tevie which will focus on further building synergies across West Africa in addressing the emerging and extant trends in ICT.
Stakeholders interested in the ever growing West Africa telecom market will gather and confirmed attendees include public and private decision makers as well as other stakeholders from Senegal, Cote d’ Ivoire, Ghana, Togo, The Gambia, Sierra Leone, Nigeria and Liberia. There will also be attendees from the global ICT community.
The West Africa Telecom Summit will address some of the top demands of consumers and businesses all across the region with the focus on consolidating the growth in the sector and provide an understanding of the dynamics that propel it and forecasts future trends & expected developments. NCS encourages its members (corporate and individual) particularly young people to explore a portfolio of opportunities in partnership, fund/investment, peer2peer knowledge and mentoring.
NCS President, Professor Sola Aderounmu has also been announced as the recipient of the Special Recognition Award: For Promoting Advancement of Information Technology Professionalism in Africa at the Africa Information Technology & Telecom Awards (AIITA) which is run concurrently with the 6th edition of Ghana Telecom Awards at the posh Kempinski Hotel in Accra.
