The 2013 Information Technology professionals’ Assembly and 19th Annual General Meeting of the Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN) will hold in Abuja on Wednesday 19th and Thursday 20th of June, 2013.
CPN organizes the assembly annually to provide an avenue for Information Technology practitioners in Nigeria to discuss and strategize on issues of concern to the sector and the nation. The release from CPN states that this year’s programme will be preceded by the induction of new members as members of CPN. The induction exercise will take place on Tuesday 18th of June, 2013.
The theme of this year’s assembly is “Opportunities in Information Technology for Entrepreneurship and Wealth Creation”. To make progress in the digital world, Nigeria must be more productive in the ICT sector. Digital consumption alone will lead to digital slavery. Sustainable development requires innovation and entrepreneurship in IT. Nigeria needs to step up on the technology value chain.
It is expected that CPN will use the assembly to promote awareness of IT entrepreneurship opportunities while highlighting challenges and exploring strategies for the spread of profitable enterprise development in the sector. How can the fastest growing sector help with youth employment and job creation? Rising unemployment is a source of concern. IT remains a paper tiger until it addresses real challenges of development. There is a need for entrepreneurship policies that connect the IT sector with employment generation.
