2013 Innovation Prize for Africa Update

UN – Economic Commission for Africa, ECA through Eskedar Nega, Program Officer, ICT Policy and Development has sent out a release on updates on the 2013 Innovation Prize for Africa. IPA 2013 Deadline has been extended to 30 November 2012.


According to the release, applications have been received from: Angola, Cameroon, Congo, Democratic Rep. of Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Morocco, Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Somalia, South Africa, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, Mali.

There are now opportunities to apply in french ( Check on IPA 2013 website). You can spread the word to your francophone friends.

- The IPA team will be present at the African Internet Governance Forum holding from 2-4 October 2012 at the Smart Village in Cairo, Egypt. The ECA team on the Innovation Prize for Africa will be organizing a pre-event on the 2nd of October and will have an IPA Exhibition booth. People who will be attending the African IGF Forum or if you will be in Cairo around those dates, do visit the Innovation Prize team.

***The Innovation Prize for Africa (IPA) is a joint initiative of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) and the African Innovation Foundation (AIF).
IPA honours and encourages innovative achievements that contribute toward developing new products, increasing efficiency or saving cost in Africa.
The prize also promotes among young African men and women the pursuit of science, technology and engineering careers and business applications.
Specifically, the award targets technological breakthroughs in such main concern areas as manufacturing and service industry, health and well-being, agriculture and agribusiness, environment, energy and water and ICTs.
