Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) will confer the Professional Fellowship Awards on deserving IT professionals who have excelled and made significant impact through their work in IT during the 2012 National Information Technology Merit Awards (NITMA) ceremony.
The NCS College of Fellows approved the Fellowship applications of: Adegoke Rasheed Aderemi, Aderounmu Ganiyu Adesola, Akinlade Titilola Olusola, Arah Umunna Onyekwelu Aniekan, Arogundade Adedayo Peter Sunday, Awodele Oludele, Bello Aderonke Abosede, Juwah Eugene Ikemefuna, Olajide Michael Ajibola and Williams, Olufemi Sunday.
Fellow is the highest grade of the NCS professional cadre. The following is summary information on some of those assessed to have merited this honour for 2012:
Rasheed Aderemi Adegoke, Group Head, Information Technology of First Bank of Nigeria PLC has vast experience in the application of technology to deliver service innovation and improved business performance in the banking sector. He was recently appointed a member of the National Broadband committee.
Dr (Mrs) Titillola Akinlade,, Project Manager at Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited for various SAP projects in the West Africa, joined the academic staff of the University of Lagos in 1984 and was a Sir Adam Thomson Scholar at the University of Sussex as part of her PhD programme. Since joining Mobil she has held top level Technical positions in variety of assignments in Nigeria and the USA.
Adesola Aderounmu, Professor of Computer Science, is the current Director of Information Technology and Communications Unit of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife. He is presently Chairman, NCS Conferences Committee. He was Head of Computer Science and Engineering Department between 2004 and 2007 and has more than 19 years experience in teaching and research with published articles in national and international journals.
Otunba Adedayo Peter Sunday Arogundade, Group Executive Director at Sidmach Technologies Nigeria Limited has been an active player in the IT industry for several years. He has extensive experience in deploying and extending the reach of technology solutions.
Umunna Onyekwelu Aniekan Arah,, CEO and Founder of Arachnida Networks Ltd and Arah You and Company. Since 1985, he has been providing consulting services and designed and installed PABX, Telecommunication and Computer Networks, Data Processing Systems on a large scale for various organizations.
Oludele Awodele, holder of a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Computer Science is an established researcher and scholar. He is currently, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Computer Science as well as Head of Department (HOD) Computer Science in the School of Computing and Engineering Sciences of Babcock University.
Mrs. Aderonke Bello, Managing Director of Innovative Technology Literacy Services Limited has over 25 years of experience in both IT and Education sectors. Over the years, she has been deputy national coordinator, SchoolNet Nigeria, and s currently, the Vice President, Nigerian Women in Information Technology.
Dr. Eugene Juwah, Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC), has over 30 years of working experience in Information Technology and telecommunication industries. He has deep knowledge and expertise in regulatory issues in the telecom sector and is experienced in network operations and policy management.
Michael Ajibola Olajide a thoroughbred IT professional has been Executive Director and also Managing Director of Sidmach Technologies Nigeria Limited. He has played a major role in the visioning and development of software solutions that has positively impacted lives in the Education Sector and is currently the Chairman of the company.
Olufemi Sunday Williams, Deputy Managing Director of Chams PLC, has delivered work of consistently high quality in computer engineering and the delivery of innovative products and projects since joining Chams Nigeria Limited in 1990 as a Computer Engineer. He is an accomplished project leader and mentor to young, aspiring professionals.

The NITMA event holds on Friday, December 14, 2012 at Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos. Professional Fellowships awards to members of NCS who have contributed through their expertise to the advancement or application of Information Technology for considerable value to society.
Being at the top of the profession, NCS Professional Fellows are celebrated and recognized as role models to inspire young IT professionals, to encourage the growth of professionalism in IT and to accelerate the advancement of the IT sector through the productive application of IT expertise to provide opportunities and overcome challenges.
In addition to the conferment of Professional Fellowships, Honorary Fellowships will be awarded to distinguished personalities who have transformed the technology sector while best performers will be recognized through industry awards and the President’s award for IT Personality of the Year during the NITMA event.
