2012 NCS Ogun State Chapter ICT Development Programme
The Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) Ogun State Chapter holds its Annual ICT development programme on November 6 and 7, 2012. Jidaw notes that the 2012 programme will take place in Federal College of Education, Osiele, Abeokuta.
It is a top NCS programme annually for representatives of Computer Science / Information Technology students of all tertiary institutions in Ogun State. The event which usually includes the organization of software competition amongst all tertiary institutions in Ogun state was held last year on the 21st and 22nd November 2011 at Redeemers University, Mowe, Ogun state.
During the event, a Guest Speaker, who is an experienced IT professional, is expected to present a Technical Session on Communications Technologies: Application areas and Career requirements. In the 2011 edition, Jide Awe, Chairman, Publicity and Events of Nigeria Computer Society delivered a keynote address on IT Entrepreneurship.
Jidaw observes that the programme promotes youth empowerment in technology in line with the mission of NCS. It provides youth innovators in tertiary institutions with opportunities to highlight technology based projects and initiatives they have been working on. Furthermore the exhibitions are not only about showcasing youth innovation but also encouraging and rewarding excellence in youth empowerment and entrepreneurship. Through this programme, NCS Ogun State is focused on making the statement “The Youth and the Future” a reality.
Objectives of the programme include:
To provide a platform for building and enhancing software skills, interests and attitudes among students of tertiary institutions in Ogun State.
To provide interaction between international organizations and students of tertiary institutions in Ogun State
To provide the medium for interaction among the students of tertiary institutions in Ogun State
To provide a platform for encouraging institutions in Ogun State to participate in national and international competitions such as Microsoft competitions.
