HOPE IS NOT A STRATEGY.
An IT career looks attractive because of the role of IT in the knowledge economy. Becoming an IT entrepreneur may also be a strategic move in view of the ever rising global demand for IT products and services. These are trends of hope. But is hope enough?
You have hope and can see opportunity in Information Technology. But is hope enough to make your career happen? Is hope enough to start your new IT business? What is the use of hope without a plan? What is the value of hope without in-depth knowledge of IT career opportunities? Hope is not a strategy.
It’s your career. You’re your future. You can’t afford to treat career development in an unplanned manner. You are interested in programming and database development. IT jobs? But where are you? Where are you going? Why are you here? Hope must come with a vision of what you want to achieve. What do you see before others? Interest is not a strategy.
Be Wise. Hoping for the best, “whatever will be, will be”?? Without a sense of direction how will you reach your full potential? Career development goes beyond hope. The use of your time, effort and investment must be purposeful. Is there a purpose in your IT education?
Learning and other constant renewal efforts should be based on your distinct IT career strategy. Strategy means playing to your strengths and interests. Coordinate your efforts and plan with your priorities in mind. Let the main issue be the main issue. It’s your job to create and own your path. Don’t let your career happen! Make your career happen!
Sense of Direction
Clearly you need to be self-motivated with a relatively clear sense of direction.
Sometimes we do things right but focus helps you to do the right thing. It is not only about decision-making but you must also about gather useful career information. Doing your homework, doing your research extends beyond hope.
Depending on hope alone is comfort zone siesta. It is dangerous. It harms the fulfillment of potentials. REJECT IT. A Chinese proverb states that – “The person who waits for roast chicken to fall into his mouth will wait very long.”
Are you really an unstoppable moving train? Then instead of hoping for the best, start planning and acting for the best.
